Overwintering cover crop mix

A four-species overwintering mix, also excellent for deeper soil structure improvement and erosion protection. The winter hardiness of Pannonian vetch and green rye ensures safe overwintering. It fits organic farming particularly well.

Composition

  • 5% Phacelia — fast emergence, bee forage, soil loosening
  • 10% Fodder radish — deep taproot (80–120 cm), reducing compaction
  • 45% Pannonian vetch — 20–30 kg N/ha fixation, winter hardiness
  • 40% Green rye — winter hardiness, erosion protection

Application guide

Sowing period

  • Summer / early autumn: July to mid-October (optimal)
  • Can also be sown in spring

Sowing

  • Shallow incorporation after discing (2–4 cm)
  • With a seed drill to a depth of 3–5 cm

Incorporation/Termination

  • In spring, 3–4 weeks before sowing
  • Best incorporated when the phacelia is in flower
